Licensing and Guidance
We are licenced by the Buckinghamshire Council, Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018 Licence for Keeping or Training Animals for Exhibition – Licence Number: LC2024031133101.
We subscribe to the British Alpaca Society Code of Conduct for Alpaca Trekking – Certificate Number 159.
General
- All Experience fees stated are inclusive of VAT at the current rate.
- Prices are per person unless otherwise stated
- All bookings and payments must be made in advance via the booking system online via this website.
- Gift vouchers can be redeemed via the booking page
- Alpaca experiences are non-transferable and non-refundable.
- As we are a working farm and this is our private home, we regret that we cannot accommodate visitors without a booking.
- Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before your time slot but not before.
- Please ensure you arrive in good time for your walk as we cannot hold up the walk, which may involve a group, to wait for you. Refunds or rescheduled walks will not be offered in these circumstances.
- If you are unable to attend, provided we have at least 48 hours’ notice, you may rebook an alternative date for your experience.
- Experience bookings must be redeemed within one year of purchase.
- Children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult holding a walker or accompanying walker ticket.
- Children must be aged 8 years or over. Children between 8 and 12 years can walk an alpaca on a double lead with a paying adult.
- We do not allow the use of umbrellas during alpaca experiences as these can startle the animals.
- While our barn is wheelchair or mobility scooter friendly, the walking trails are not accessible in this way. Please contact us to discuss any special requirements
- We reserve the right to cancel alpaca experiences. In this event, we will provide alternative dates or a refund
- Strictly no dogs are allowed on the farm, including guide and assistance dogs. This is because alpacas can become very stressed in the presence of dogs. Please do not bring a dog and leave in your car.
- Free car parking is available.
Photographic / Video / Audio Recording
- You are welcome to take photographs or video while on your walk but before posting anything on social media, please respect the right to other people’s privacy. It is always respectful to check with fellow walkers before posting anything on social media.
- We may take photographs or video recording of experiences during your visit for training and marketing purposes. However, we will only do so with your consent and after we have explained how we propose to use the visual media.
Hygiene
- It is compulsory to use our disinfectant boot dips or mats, which are an essential part of biosecurity protecting the health of the alpacas on our farm, before entering any alpaca areas. Please ensure you are wearing suitable footwear for this. Leather footwear can be stained by our footbaths that contain iodine so please avoid wearing leather. Some areas can be muddy at times and so wellies can be a good choice of footwear, even if it’s not raining. If in doubt, please contact us.
- We do have toilets and hand-washing facilities, including for the disabled, on site.
Health & Safety
- Visitors must wear sturdy footwear and sensible clothing suitable for the weather conditions. Please avoid wearing Hi-Vis or ‘noisy fabric’ coats or jackets.
- Under no circumstances will we allow visitors to take part wearing open top shoes, high heels or flip flops.
- Alpacas are gentle animals and you will be provided with health and safety advice and instructions by a member of the Brillbury Team. Please ensure you listen to and follow all guidance given.
- All animals can carry pathogens that may affect humans. It is therefore essential that you wash your hands thoroughly before visiting the farm. We provide handsfree bio cleansing stations to cleanse hands before you leave. Do not put your hands in your mouth after touching the alpacas.
- Pregnant women should not associate or work with alpacas during alpaca birthing as severe illness and miscarriage may result. If in any doubt, please consult with your GP.
- Particularly in the summer, we recommend the use of insect repellent due to the nature of being with animals in the countryside.
- All visitors must attend the Health & Safety briefing.
- We reserve the right to terminate anyone’s alpaca experience if they are not following the guidance given. No refund or rebooking will be allowed in these circumstances.
Weather
- We walk in most weather conditions unless it is unsafe to do so. In wet conditions ground can become slippery underfoot.
- If the temperature is in excess of 26°C we will reschedule your experience to earlier in the day or for another day. This is for welfare reasons.
