Brillbury Alpacas was founded in 2016 by Anne and Mike Shaw after discovering alpacas during a visit to Melford Green Alpacas in Suffolk. At the time they ran an international mental health business, but were drawn to the calm, wellbeing and connection that alpacas bring.
Later that year they began their herd with 11 carefully selected breeding females, many already pregnant. Their ambition has always been to build a high-quality herd with outstanding genetics, focusing initially on white alpacas prized by the luxury textile industry for their valuable, dyeable fleece.

Our Approach
to Breeding
Brillbury’s attention to selective breeding has seen the herd rapidly improve since its formation. A focus on fleece quality, conformation and temperament has paid dividends in the way our alpacas can be handled as well as success in the show ring.
This knowledge and success has provided the opportunity to help new owners in their alpaca journey in the form of approved British Alpaca Society training by our qualified BAS Affiliate Trainers.
